You can never BE TOO PREPARED for a disaster. Here in California we are used to having Earthquakes and fires and we should always be ready for the next one. Our schools practice what to do in case of an earthquake and they do have disaster kits ready at school in case our children have to stay there longer then expected.
After Katrina and the devastation in and around New Orleans, I decided to replenish and expand our disaster kit. I fill it with :
-drinkable water (probably the most important item)
-canned and dry foods
-toilet paper
-warm blankets
-Feminine personal products
-diapers if you have little ones
-dog or cat food if you have a pet (also count on extra water for them)
- batteries
-flashlights
-and battery operated radio to name a few.
Optimally, you should pack a disaster kit for your car. YOU JUST never know.
One web site that I have found VERY HELPFUL in planning your family preparedness in case of an emergency is WE PREPARE
They help you determine your Family's Risk
The web site allows you to customize your own family disaster plan; be sure to click on Customize your family plan and children book.
This is a well thought out web site that helps you get better prepared. Do not wait another minute, get started if you haven't already done so.

Hi Sabine,
Glad you are feeling better. It's my turn to be sick. hehe....
Though my country is not earthquake prone but we do have emergency supplies at home in case of terror attacks. :)
I like how you put in your jar of Olay. You never know when you might need to prepare for a wrinkle attack at your age, ha hahahahaha!!!
