Look who is 5 years old!! It has brought us so much joy to see how our little boy is growing in so many amazing ways. He has blossomed throughout his pre-school years, and he is now gearing up for Kindergarten! This past year, he learned about Africa and the human body. He thrived in Spanish and Music class, and he made close bonds and friendships with his classmates. Even though this is his last year in the 1/2 day classroom, he will be staying at Keystone Montessori School for his Kindergarten year in the full-day class!
He has enjoyed learning more math and science, however his passion for reading has really developed over this past year. He loves reading mystery series books like Nancy Drew and the Clue Crew, and for his 5th birthday, Shyam Mama, Ami Mami and Aayush got him the illustrated version of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, which he is loving so far! He also has been reading books to Vidya and really enjoys trying to teach her how to read. Even though he doesn't really take afternoon naps anymore, he does 1-2 hours of quiet time in his room most days where he just reads book after book. It reminds me a lot of me when I was a kid!
One of Keshav's biggest passions outside of school is tabla class. His hands are constantly playing tabla on any surface he can find, and he looks forward to going to class every week and learning a new Kaida or a new variation. His best friend from school, Chaitanya, is in his tabla class as well, so the two of them together have loved learning and causing trouble every Monday night! He is improving everyday, and we are so happy that he is getting so much enjoyment out of that activity.
Keshav loves playing board games like Ticket to Ride and Pictionary, and he is starting to get some of that competitive spirit! He still has a huge passion for learning about animals and nature, and his new favorite show is Wild Kratts, which is all about animals and nature. He absolutely loved our recent trip to Disney World, which is why we decided to do a Disney World-themed birthday party for him this year. And, as always, his 5-year-old interview shows so much about his personality and about how he has grown in the past year (and how Vidya has grown, too)! Enjoy!
