We started Keshav in swim lessons when he was 7 months old in San Mateo, CA. He always loved being in the water, and recently, we signed him up for more lessons here in Tewksbury, MA. Well, he has now graduated from the classes where Mommy needs to come in the pool with him, and he is going in the pool by himself! I am so proud of him for being brave in the water, but I also always loved swimming with him hanging on to my shoulders! He is really doing a great job with his swimming, and I can't wait to see how he progresses over this next year.
Another favorite activity that Keshav has been doing pretty much every week since he was around 9 months old is going to gym class! We started off at Junior Gym in San Mateo, CA, and after moving to the Boston area, we have been taking him to The Little Gym. He has always loved going to gym class, and today, he actually graduated from the classes where I come into the room with him! Next week, he is going to be starting the 3-5 year old gymnastics classes where he goes in on his own and learns from the teachers while I sit outside the room and observe through the window. While I know he is going to thrive in this type of class, I have gotten so much joy out of holding his hand on the balance beam, flipping his legs over to help him do a forward roll, and helping him touch his toes to the bar while hanging on it. It will be hard to be an observer and not directly participating, but I know that he is a big boy now, and I have to let things go. Letting go of your baby is the hardest thing to do as a mother! I hope I get better at it as time goes by, because I know there is still a lot more to come!

Here is a video of Keshav receiving his very first medal at The Little Gym of Littleton for graduating from the "Super Beasts" class!
Luckily, I still have my baby girl to start all of these experiences with soon!
