Just like her brother, she is SUPER chatty! She loves to talk in full sentences, and one of my favorite things that she does is when she opens up a book and starts making up her own words for each page! She also loves to sing, just like her brother, but her song knowledge has expanded to include whatever Keshav is into like Aladdin songs and Garba songs! It is so amazing to see her mind develop so quickly with the guidance and example set by her big brother. While the first child will always have one-on-one time with the parents that the second child will never have, the second child definitely has the benefit of the immediate friendship and mentorship of the older sibling!
Vidya is counting up to 20 and recognizing upper and lower case letters. We are working on helping her to learn phonetics, but she is a little more stubborn than Keshav when it comes to listening and learning ;) Her favorite thing to do is climb on EVERYTHING! She loves going to her gym class and is getting so much better on the balance beam and swinging on the bar. Just within the past few months, we started taking her in a swimming pool, and she loves it! She has loved going to the splash park and playing in the sprinklers this summer.
She is so much more of an adventurous eater than Keshav, which is very refreshing! She will try any food and continue to eat it if she likes it! She will eat a variety of vegetables including broccoli and peas, and she loves different kinds of fruits. But, I think her most favorite thing to eat is ice cream! If I only give her a little bit, once she finishes that, she will say in her adorable growling voice, "SOME MORE, SOME MORE!" over and over again until she has finished the entire bowl! And she always HAS to eat it "by yourself!" (meaning by herself). She loves eating with a spoon and fork and insists on doing it herself most of the time! And when she decides that she is done eating something, there is no way we are going to be able to distract her and feed her more! There's her stubbornness again!
She is so sweet and curious, and she is always asking "who's that?" or "what's that?" to make sure she knows the exact way to name someone or something. She loves giving high fives, but her favorite thing is to give hugs and kisses to her brother and Daddy! Every morning, Keshav will come into her room with me to get her when she wakes up, and they always share a hug and a kiss first thing to start their day! While they, of course, bother each other and have started to fight over things, they overall have such a strong bond and love for each other, and it is the sweetest thing to see!
We are so lucky to be her parents, and we can't wait to see what this next year will hold for Vidya! We expect to see many more tantrums and sass, but we also know we will see a lot of love, kindness and warmth from our cutie pie little girl :)
A very happy birthday to Vidya. As always, thank you Krishna for sharing kids' happenings.
