Cherishing this time

While every moment in our children's lives are wonderful and precious in their own ways, I remember having the most fun with Keshav between the ages of 6 months and 1 year old.  Before 6 months old, you are so busy and sleep deprived with trying to figure out the baby's personality, preferences, schedule, etc., that it is sometimes hard to enjoy the moments.  After 1 year, at least with Keshav, the tantrums and stubbornness started, which brought about frustrating moments in between the good ones.  But between 6 months old and one year, everything was so perfect!

Well, we are definitely in that perfect period right now with Vidya, and we are fully cherishing every minute of it!  This is a time of playfulness, where she is now figuring out that toys are fun and her hands are useful.  This is a time of the sweetest, warmest, heart-melting smiles and giggles that bring me to tears over and over again, especially when she gives me those smiles while looking up at me with those huge, beautiful eyes.  This is a time of exploration, where new sights, sounds, tastes, and textures are so fascinating for her to discover.

It is pretty amazing to see this tiny person see everything in this world for the first time.  We are so lucky to be able to witness her growth and watch as her personality develops, and we are certainly not taking anything for granted.  Everyday, she has learned something new.  Even though she is our second child and we have gone through all of this before with Keshav, this is her first time discovering her surroundings.  And we are so blessed to be able to support, praise, and motivate her through it.  In some ways, she is even luckier to be the second child because she has three cheerleaders with her everyday instead of two, and we can already see how much she adores her big brother and how much he adores her.

As I am writing this post, I am realizing more and more how complete I feel with my life and family in this moment.  My heart is full of love and gratefulness!

These videos are just some examples of Vidya discovering her world, and they are just so sweet and beautiful that I had to share it!

  1. What a beautiful post, Krishna! It is so sweetly, eloquently and truly put! 6 to 12 months is the best time with babies and was my favorite too! We are definitely in that stubborn toddler phase with Arjun now. I don't know if you saw my FB post about toddler rules, but reading that always brings a smile to my face through some of the frustrations of raising a toddler.

Vidya is most definitely a little cutie pie, and it's so heart-warming to hear you are getting to enjoy all of these amazing moments during her infancy. It is hard to be able to appreciate them otherwise. I love the bath video as well! Arjun also loved to splash in the tub like that at that age! Ahhh, reading and watching this post is making me want to have another one!
