Welcome to our blog!

Vivek and I wanted to share some news about Keshav and Vidya on a frequent basis with our close family and friends, and hopefully this will be a good way to do so! Please visit often, and I will do my best to keep things updated!

New Orleans Trip-Part 1-Traveling to The Big Easy for Mardi Gras!

Vivek grew up in one of the coolest cities in the country, and we are so lucky that the kids' Daji and Dadi still live there!  We love visiting, and we couldn't wait to take Vidya there for the first time!  This was her first plane trip, and she did a great job!

Something that Vivek really enjoyed growing up was celebrating Mardi Gras!  He remembers going to all the parades and catching beads, coins, cups and other toys with family and friends.  Keshav is now at an age that he would really love to see the floats and marching bands passing by, and he did!  We attended the Okeanos and Midcity parades on a beautiful, warm day and had a blast reliving some of Vivek's childhood memories!

All decked out for the parade!
Waiting for the next float to come by!

Dadi was very good at catching beads!
"Throw me something mister!"

Another tradition during Mardi Gras is eating yummy King Cake!  A King Cake is always baked with a little plastic baby inside on of the pieces, and they say that if you find the baby in your piece, you have to buy the next King Cake.  Well, while Keshav was enjoying his very first piece of King Cake ever, he found the baby!  He was so excited :)

The actual day of Mardi Gras was on Vivek's birthday this year!  Even though it was a little too cold and wet to go out for the parades that day, we still loved celebrating Daddy's birthday with a Mexican food lunch, cookie cake, and a sushi dinner!

Nehal Kaka and Violet Auntie stopped by to wish Vivek a happy birthday and to play with the kids!  This was Vidya's first time meeting her kaka!

Keshav got caught licking some of the icing on Daddy's cake!
Veggie sushi!

We had a great time celebrating Daddy's birthday and Mardi Gras in New Orleans!
